BLACK PANTHER REVIEW
SCORE - 9/10
The Black Panther has been an equal treat of fantastic visuals and a compelling story. Chadwick Boseman gave an amazing performance as the titular character but the show-stealing performance was that of Michael .B. Jordan’s role as the villain – Erik Killmonger. Apart from the gripping backstory, the King’s Dead OST by Kendrick Lamar dwelled deeper into the psychology of the villain. It was mentioned in one of the press tours that Killmonger has been inspired from Heath Ledger’s iconic role as ‘The Joker’ from the cinematic landmark film – ‘The Dark Knight’ and it truly was. Both the characters, though were quite different from one another, shared similar kind of attitude.
Unlike the previous Marvel outings, Black Panther took place in its own universe. The scientifically and technologically advanced country of Wakanda was beautifully designed. From the underground labs to the beautiful waterfalls, everything was very well detailed. Though it was not much influenced by the other movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it laid a perfect foundation for the much-awaited film of the year, Avengers: Infinity War which hits theatres on April 27th in India and May 4th in the U.S.
Martin Freeman performance as C.I.A. agent Everett Ross and Andy Serkis performance as Ulysses Klaue were short but great. The movie did meet the high hopes and expectations the fans had.
Final Words – Watch it.
